The Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme has been described as one of the most reputable organisations that every serious stakeholder in the area of Agriculture will not hesitate to partner with.
The Director, TETFund Centre of Excellence in Integrated Farming System Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Dr. Kolawole Richard stated this when he led staff of the Centre who were at the Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme premises for discussions on areas of partnership between the two like-minded organisations.
He said the reason the Centre has decided to focus on agriculture was because it understood it was the economic strength of the Northeast subregion.
Dr. Richard added that the Centre chose BSADP in order to provide capacity building opportunities which will assist their clients who are mostly local farmers with modern farming system from preseason to postseason activities, especially in organic manuring.
Responding, the Programme Coordinator BSADP Alh. Jafaru Ilelah said when they were elated when they received communication expressing the interest of the Centre to partner with their organisation, saying that it is a pointer to the fact that they have gained the recognition of credible and reliable organisations like the Centre of Excellence in Integrated Farming System, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.
He said the areas they would want to collaborate with the Centre on are sensitisation to extension workers at the state, zonal, local government and unit levels on simple implement technology, which will be replicated to the farmers across the state.
Alh. Ilelah added that other areas of possible collaboration with the Centre are in poultry, fisheries and post harvest technology in order to prevent post harvest losses suffered by the farmers for long.
As at the time of publishing this story, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been developed and signed between the Centre and BSADP.
