The staff of the TETFund Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Farming System Federal Polytechnic Bauchi have met with a view to fashioning out activities to be undertaken by the centre for the first year.

The meeting was an interface between the Key Officers and the Project Management Team of the centre.

In his opening remarks, the Director of the Centre, Dr. Kolawole Richard said the centre has already met the basic readiness requirements as stipulated by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and explained that what was being awaited is the release of funds to activate the activities lined up for implementation.

Dr. Richard said the for the first year, the Centre will focus on fishery and poultry farming, just as arrangements have also been concluded to provide short term courses for individuals and organisations in the entire agricultural value chain.

Also speaking during the meeting, Deputy Director of the Centre, Dr. Aliyu Gadam charged staff of the Centre, especially the project management team to challenge their horizons by coming up with smarter solutions to problems in the focus areas for value addition, which he tipped were the surest way to shoot the Centre to prominence and place it atop its peers across the country.

Other staff who spoke during the meeting assured of their readiness to deploy their expertise to hit the ground running for the growth and development of the Centre in the overall interest of the country’s food security.
